Full time experienced Deli Assistant

Gourmet Food Parlour has an exciting opportunity for a Deli Assistant to join our Catering Kitchen in Santry.

Working as part of our catering production team, you will be responsible for the preparation of a range of cold deli products including sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit pots and other catering items . You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure that all food is prepared to the required GFP standards, with a strong focus on presentation, quality, consistency and food safety .This will mostly be 5am starts although flexibility is needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare sandwiches, wraps, salads, fruit pots and other cold deli items to GFP recipes and standards
  • Complete all preparation required for the cold section in line with daily catering requirements and production schedules
  • Ensure all products are prepared accurately, consistently and to a high standard
  • Pay close attention to presentation and portion control to ensure a quality product and excellent customer experience
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient work station, following a clean-as-you-go approach
  • Follow HACCP procedures and all food safety and hygiene standards at all times
  • Ensure correct storage, labelling and rotation of food products
  • Assist with stock control and minimise food waste
  • Work efficiently to meet production deadlines and catering requirements
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in maintaining high standards across the kitchen
  • Work effectively as part of the wider catering team and assist other sections when required
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude and be willing to learn and develop your skills
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, food safety and company procedures
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Head Chef or management

Skills & Abilities Required

  • Previous experience in a deli, kitchen, catering or food preparation environment is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around presentation and quality
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy catering environment
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and HACCP standards
  • Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions and production requirements accurately
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organised work area
  • Flexible and willing to support the wider kitchen team when required
