At Elk Recruitment, we are looking for a driven Health and Safety Advisor to join our client’s growing team based in Waterford. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to make a real impact in an innovative and growing organization.

 
Job Purpose:
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting company Health and Safety Team to ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety across all construction sites. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the health and safety field in the construction industry.

 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Inspections and Audits:
    Assist in conducting regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
    Support the implementation of health and safety regulations and company policies in line with local and national legislation.
  • Risk Assessments:
    Assist in preparing and reviewing risk assessments and method statements for construction activities.
  • Training and Awareness:
    Support the delivery of health and safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation:
    Record and report near-misses, accidents, and incidents, and participate in investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records of site inspections, audits, and incident reports. Prepare reports and updates for the Health and Safety Manager.
  • PPE Compliance:
    Monitor the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by employees and contractors.
  • Promoting Safety Culture:
    Encourage a proactive approach to health and safety by fostering a culture of awareness and accountability among all employees and subcontractors
Qualifications:
  • A recognised qualification in Health and Safety.
  • Previous experience in a construction or health and safety-related role (e.g., internship or work placement).
  • Strong interest in health and safety within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and construction practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel to various construction sites as required.
