About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional to take ownership of the site Quality Assurance function and play a key role in maintaining and continuously improving food safety, quality, and technical standards.

 

The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Sales, Innovation, and wider management teams to ensure that products, processes, and systems consistently meet customer expectations, legal requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Quality Assurance function, ensuring the team is effectively supported, trained, and resourced to achieve business objectives.
  • Promote and embed a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the site.
  • Maintain, improve, and develop food safety, quality, and technical management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish and EU food legislation, customer standards, and recognised industry requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of technical and quality standards across the site.
  • Manage internal audit programmes and ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed effectively and within agreed timelines.
  • Lead the quality function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections, and technical visits.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sales, and Innovation teams to ensure products meet food safety, quality, legal, and customer requirements.
  • Support supplier approval processes, raw material controls, and supplier compliance activities.
  • Monitor regulatory updates, industry trends, and emerging food safety risks to ensure the business remains proactive and compliant.
  • Review quality performance data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement action plans.
  • Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and quality incidents, ensuring effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen quality systems, and enhance overall site performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operational teams and site management.

 

Candidate Requirements

  • A qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management, or a related discipline, or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience in a senior Quality or Technical role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing and developing a Quality Assurance or Technical team.
  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing processes, food safety systems, and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience within an FMCG or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining HACCP systems.
  • Knowledge of recognised food safety standards such as IFS Food and organic certification requirements would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
