Job Description

Our client, Coolskeagh Development Limited t/a Castle Steel , based in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan , is currently seeking Designer–Draughtspersons for immediate start at their facility in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

- Produce high-quality structural steel detailing drawings and 3D models. The successful candidate will support engineers, fabricators, and project managers by creating accurate fabrication and erection models, drawings, and documentation for a wide range of steel construction projects.

- Develop detailed structural steel 3D models using Tekla Structures.

- Produce fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings, and assembly details to industry standards.

- Prepare accurate bills of materials (BOMs), cutting lists, bolt lists, and reports from the Tekla model.

- Interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design intent.

- Identify and communicate design discrepancies, clashes, and coordination issues.

- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and site teams to ensure buildable solutions.

- Apply connection design principles (bolted and welded) in accordance with project requirements.

- Update models and drawings based on design changes and revision requests.

- Ensure all detailing conforms to relevant codes, standards, and company quality procedures.

- Maintain organised drawing files, revision history, and documentation.

Requirements: Skills & Experience

- Candidate must be competent to carry out all job role duties listed above

- Minimum of 3 years of previous proven experience as a Designer–Draughtsperson, Steel Detailer, or Tekla Technician in a previous role

- Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures (modelling and detailing).

- Experience in structural steel fabrication and erection processes.

- Understanding of steelwork connection design and associated standards.

- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

- Experience working on commercial, industrial, or infrastructure steel projects

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong problem-solving and spatial awareness skills.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

- Good organisational skills and document management.

- Knowledge of other CAD software (AutoCAD, Advance Steel, Revit) is an advantage.

Annual remuneration: €36,605.00; Pay rate €18.05 per hour

Work Location: Coolskeagh Development Limited t/a Castle Steel, Moraghy, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, A75 DD23.

Number of hours work each week: 39
