Your new company  

They play a key role in maintaining and developing critical infrastructure, ensuring reliable water services for communities and businesses. Due to continued demand, they are seeking a Water Network Engineer to join their team on a 12-month contract based in Cork.

Your new role  

As a Water Network Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing pre-connection enquiries and applications, reviewing technical submissions, and evaluating water and wastewater network capacity. You will identify network constraints, carry out technical studies, define connection requirements, and provide engineering recommendations. The role will also involve ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, identifying network upgrade requirements, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to support project planning and delivery.

What you'll need to succeed  

  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Experience working with water or wastewater networks and understanding how they operate.
    • Experience carrying out network capacity assessments and identifying any constraints or issues.
    • Ability to assess new connection applications and determine if there is sufficient network capacity available.
    • Experience reviewing technical drawings, reports, and engineering submissions.
    • Good understanding of relevant engineering standards, regulations, and industry guidelines.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify network issues and recommend solutions.
    • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to prepare clear technical reports and recommendations.
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
