Senior Accountant

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing international manufacturing organisation. Reporting into the finance leadership team, this role will play a key part in financial reporting, compliance, business partnering, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

The successful candidate will operate within a fast-paced and collaborative environment, partnering with stakeholders across finance, operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and commercial functions to drive financial performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting activities for the Irish entity while supporting international operations as required.
  • Manage the general ledger and prepare month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, payroll, and intercompany transactions.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
  • Analyse financial performance, investigate variances, and provide meaningful insights to support decision-making.
  • Support group reporting requirements through financial consolidation and reporting systems.
  • Prepare VAT returns and related tax reconciliations.
  • Manage intercompany accounting activities and ensure timely resolution of differences.
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation, audit requirements, and tax compliance.
  • Support internal controls and compliance activities, including documentation and testing of key controls.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and governance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Partner with operational teams to assess business performance, profitability, and cash flow impacts.
  • Support inventory accounting, product costing, variance analysis, and capital expenditure reviews.
  • Assist with treasury and cash management activities.
  • Mentor and support junior finance team members.
  • Contribute to finance transformation and other ad-hoc projects.

Requirements

Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 7 years' experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, month-end close, and management accounting.
  • Experience working within a multinational organisation is advantageous.
  • Exposure to audit, statutory reporting, and compliance requirements.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting standards, and accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Inventory accounting
    • Product costing
    • Standard costing
    • Variance analysis
    • Capital investment appraisal
  • Familiarity with VAT and indirect tax compliance.

Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability.
  • Experience with Power BI or financial reporting tools is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
  • Experience supporting automation, AI, or process improvement initiatives would be advantageous.
