Financial Controller

Our client is a well-established and growing organisation operating within the automotive, leasing and fleet management sector. They are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function, strengthen financial governance, and support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Your new role  

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the finance function, leading a high-performing team while ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting and effective cash flow management. You will be responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting activities, statutory compliance, and external audit coordination.

A key aspect of the role will be overseeing credit risk management and maintaining the organisation's credit governance framework. You will work closely with senior leadership to deliver financial insights, drive process improvements, support business growth initiatives, and enhance operational efficiency across the finance function.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing the finance team.
• Managing month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Preparing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Monitoring cash flow, working capital and treasury activities.
• Overseeing accounts receivable, payable and credit control functions.
• Managing customer credit assessments and risk exposure.
• Driving continuous improvement across finance systems and processes.
• Strengthening financial controls, governance and compliance procedures.
• Supporting strategic business decisions through financial analysis and reporting

What you'll need to succeed  

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar leadership position.

You will also demonstrate:

• Strong financial accounting, reporting and compliance expertise.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Proven ability to implement and improve financial processes and controls.
• Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
• Experience managing credit risk, debtor performance and working capital.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
• Experience within an SME or growing business environment would be highly advantageous
