Software Controls Engineer required for on-site role in Co. Clare to deliver high-quality software solutions for bespoke automated assembly machinery used in advanced manufacturing environments.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Mechanical Design , Controls and Electrical teams to develop cost-effective, state-of-the-art automation systems . You will play a key role in the full project lifecycle —from software design and development through to commissioning and validation of new machine control systems.

Key Requirements:

Degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in Automation & Robotics , or a related Software Engineering discipline.
Proven experience in a similar role within automation or machine controls .
Proficiency in developing software for PLCs, Robots, HMIs and Vision Systems .
Experience with robotics, servo-electric and pneumatic motion control .
Solid understanding of machine safety standards and compliance .
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
Effective time management and ability to work both independently and collaboratively .
High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop control system software for new automated machinery, including PLC, HMI, Robotics, Motion and Vision Systems .
Conduct testing and commissioning of machine control software.
Provide technical support throughout the full project cycle—design, build, debug and commissioning.
Participate in design reviews with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for new and upgraded equipment.
Ensure that project milestones, timelines and performance targets are achieved.
