Purpose of Position:

The ELI Research Internship is available to National College of Ireland students to support the ELI Research Team in the research and evaluation activities of ELI

Reporting to:

ELI Researcher and ELI National Centre Assistant Director

Key Relationships:

ELI Researcher, Research Administrator and Research Assistant.
Director/Assistant Directors of Early Learning Initiative.
ELI’s Dublin’s Inner-City (DIC) and National Centre (NC) teams.
National College of Ireland.
Stakeholders in the local community, including parents, children and practitioners
Tusla Child and Family agency, statutory agencies, corporate organisations, community partners and other funders

Key Responsibilities:

To facilitate interns to develop their personal and professional skills.
To create a safe, positive working environment for interns.
To facilitate interns to become active in their local community.
Support the Research Team in the internal research and evaluation activities of DIC/NC programmes
Support the Research team in the collection, collation and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
Support the Research Team in the administration of records, reports and/or test data
Support the Research Team with the maintenance of a database of participants, children, parents and families in DIC/NC programmes
Work closely with the ELI Research, DIC/NC teams and NCI IT Department to support the coordination the implementation of all research and evaluation processes/systems, including Evasys system.
Support the Research Team to build capacity of DIC/NC teams to participate in research activities and contribute to ELI research goals and strategy.
Support in the dissemination of learnings from DIC/NC programmes papers, conferences, presentations and other relevant stakeholder platforms.
Assisting in the creation and posting of social media content for the Research Team.
Liaise with key stakeholders, including ABC Consortium, Tusla, ELI funders, other Departments within NCI in relation to the ABC/Docklands and National Centre research activities.
Other appropriate research and administrative activities as needed.
Any other duties as assigned by the ELI Researcher, and/or Director/Assistant Director.

Key Attributes:

The successful candidate must be a student of the National College of Ireland throughout their contract (autumn 2023 to summer 2024
Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent IT skills in Ms Excel Ms Word.
Experience of SPSS and other relevant research packages.
Experience creating engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, ResearchGate).
Professional interest in education and family based learning.
Ability to work closely with marginalised families and have an understanding of the issues of marginalization.
Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of college personnel, community stakeholders and other outside individuals/organizations.
Good time management skills with the ability to produce results to deadlines.
Ability to operate as a team player in a cross disciplinary, integrated team, sharing roles and responsibilities.
Flexible approach to work as hours will vary.
Ability to work remotely (reliable internet access and working space).
An energetic, confident and pro-active individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills

Salary:

€12.70 hourly rate

Annual Leave:

8% of hours worked
