Job Title: Business Analyst

Location: work remotely from their own location, however the proposed resource may be required to attend on-site meetings at one of the client’s locations as part of the contract as required

Contract / Permanent : FTC 12 Months, With further extension.

General Requirements

· Business Analyst with 8 or more years’ relevant experience.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills including to business users.

· Excellent organisational skills are required to fulfil the role.

· Ability to work on your own initiative.

· Experience working in Agile Scrum process.

· Experience in Azure DevOps.

· Scrum / agile process understanding.

· Organise work priorities and manage time effectively.

· Work in a team with in-house CLIENT staff and ICT contractors.

· An understanding of current CLIENT ICT technologies (See Appendix 5 for additional information on CLIENT ICT Technologies).

· Keep abreast of emerging technologies, briefing the CLIENT on areas of interest.

· Formulate system requirements, develop system plans and documentation, review and evaluate existing systems, and design and modify systems to meet users' business needs.

· Knowledge of environmental legislation and experience in designing associated processes and reporting.

· Analysing environmental legislation and associated process and reporting.

· Working with business units to identify high value and priority requirements so that development work is focused on the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

· Develop detailed user stories for developers to help deliver the project. They also participate in the sprint team to answer any queries in relation to user stories and liaise with the business on any proposed changes.

· CRM Business Architecture Design.

· Development and Maintenance of Architecture Artefacts.

· An understanding of current CLIENT ICT technologies (See Appendix 5 for additional information on CLIENT ICT Technologies).

· Experience in GIS.

· Knowledge of Azure DevOps.

· Agile Scrum.

Requirements

Technical Skills Required

· Excellent business and systems analysis skills, such as UML, design methods and relational database modelling.

· Must have scientific knowledge and understand the working of a legislative body.

· Must have considerable knowledge and experience with Environmental legislation and associated process and reporting. e.g., Water Framework Directive, WISE, INSPIRE.

· Experience in environmental spatial data and GIS applications development.

· Experience in Data Preparation, Transformation and integration in SQL Server and spatial data management.

· Working in an Agile delivery team, creation of User Stories for minimum viable product.

· CRM Business Architecture Design and Dynamics 365 Security management, Microsoft SharePoint 2016, SharePoint Online

· Development and Maintenance of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks, tools and Artefacts.

Specific Requirements

· Leads the review and analysis of the CLIENT ’s business, processes and information need to identify changes that lead to business improvements.

· Work with Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, Scrum teams and the business owners to establishes how technology can enable business objectives.

· Liaises with ICT and the business owners regarding the delivery of process and organisational change.

· Producing documentation to capture business requirements in specifications and work with the Delivery team in an Agile environment to ensure the development and implementation of solutions.

· Contributing to artefacts such as Business Needs Forms, Architectural Assessments, Solutions Options Documents etc.

· Analysing legislative requirements for new applications and legislative reporting requirements, e.g. WFD, WISE, INSPIRE, Open data, GDPR.

· Advising on potential improvements in business processes

· Engagement with the Business owners to prioritise and document new or changes to existing business processes to CLIENT standards.

· Participate in Business engagement and prioritization meetings for successful project outcomes.

· Collaborating with developers and subject matter experts on business requirements and legislation to help establish the technical vision for the solution

· Prototyping and mock-ups.

· Development of user stories and functional requirements documentation where new software solutions are to be developed.

· Participation in the conceptual and logical stages of solution, entity and database design.

· Advising on trade-offs between requirement value and development effort to determine Minimum Viable product.

· Advising on the appropriate application of software solutions to improve business processes.

· Advising on appropriate test plans and assisting with their development and execution.

· Highlighting issues and risks to the project manager and recommending mitigation strategies.

· Production of the relevant documentation following best practice and CLIENT standards

·3rd line support from time to time of CLIENT applications.

· Work in an agile scrum team environment.

· Identifying and assisting in implementation of technology upgrades and patching to reduce technical debt.

The key business applications used by the CLIENT can be divided into different categories:

· Corporate Systems: Office 365; SharePoint on prem and SharePoint online.

· Business Systems (HR & Finance): Integra (Finance package); Assetware (Finance package); CoreHR (hosted externally); and others.

· Environmental Systems: there are numerous environmental systems in use with the key one being the CLIENT LEMA (Licensing Enforcement Management and Assessment) which is built mainly on Dynamics 365 CRM and SharePoint.

· Database servers: Microsoft SQL Server is the standard database technology used. SQL servers are used for SharePoint, Dynamics 365 CRM, in-house applications, security tools, GIS databases, and others.

· Communications: The CLIENT has a Cisco VoIP phone system and its video conferencing and unified communications facility is offered through Microsoft Teams.
