My client, a highly successful Irish food retailer, is seeking a Food Technologist . The successful candidate will work closely with the buying team to develop fresh food products across a range of categories. This is an amazing opportunity to join a vibrant team. Hybrid, Cork-based. Part-Time hours.

Responsibilities of this Food Technologist role include:

Collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure all own-brand products meet agreed quality standards and specifications for both product and packaging.
Ensuring full compliance with legislation and the company's internal policies throughout every stage of product development.
Managing and updating online product specifications to guarantee all products are fully approved before reaching the market.
Following the stage gate process to support structured, efficient product development.
Regularly benchmarking the market to identify opportunities for product or process improvements within the range.
Supporting suppliers and product developers in delivering sustainable packaging solutions that align with environmental targets.
Maintaining strong communication with the Quality team, monitoring supplier audit status, and resolving any technical issues effectively.
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Gaining a clear understanding of business priorities and contributing to the delivery of the company's core principle of providing quality at the lowest possible cost.

Requirements for this Food Technologist role include:

Third-level degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Business, or relevant courses.
Excellent project management skills, communication and influencing skills.
2 years of hands-on experience in the FMCG sector/food manufacturing/retailer environment in a transferable role such as Development/Project Management/ Technical, ideally in the fresh product area.
The ability to work individually, as well as part of a large, cross-functional team.
Functional hands-on experience in: Supplier and product selection, product quality optimisation, supplier negotiation, and project management and planning.
Computerised specification systems.
Legislation, legal labels, product specifications, and product and packaging cost modelling.
